Chief of the 18th century Painting Department of the Museo Nacional del Prado until his retirement. He was one of the greatest Spanish experts in French painting of the 18th century, and always had a smell and a special intuition to attribute the artworks and, in a special way, to discover the presence of Goya in original drawings and paintings.
All CAEM researchers will always remember him with gratitude and admiration. His generosity was always translated into an enormous availability to attend each and every one of our queries (in Lleida or Madrid). Being with him was a real pleasure. He knew everything and always spoke with the convincing freedom of a true teacher and friend. Wise, educated, cosmopolitan man. Resolute like few others. His fruitful teaching at the CAEM will be remembered and will always remain in effect. Rest in Peace.
