This study deals with the authorship of a Flemish painting recently discovered –in a private Spanish collection–, Peasants going to the market. The standard analysis (material, iconographic, technical-formal, and stylistic) and comparative study, undertaken by the researchers who authored this text, suggests that this painting could be a second version of the oil on canvas by Cornelis de Vos and his brother in law Frans Snyders in The Iveagh Bequest – Kenwood House (London), Figures with Fruit and Game. Working together on large still-lifes similar to this one, Cornelis de Vos painted the figures, and Snyders executed the animals and the fruits.

The standard analysis (material, iconographic, technical-formal, and stylistic) and comparative study undertaken by the researchers who authored this text, members of the University of Lleida’s CAEM team, suggests that oil on canvas is an exquisite work of painter Simone Barabino (circa 1585 – 1629). Undoubtedly this is a good quality artwork, which belonged to the Sevillian canon Manuel López Cepero, one of the most important personalities in early 19th century Andalusia.

The following study, developed by Universitat de Lleida’s “Centre d’Art d’Època Moderna” (CAEM), in this case led by those who have signed this publication, reseach team, brings to light one of the early works by the Valencian painter Joaquin Sorolla (Valencia, 1863 – Cercedilla, 1923 ). Through an exhaustive formal, technical, and stylistic analysis, we have determined the authorship of this artwork, which was considered anonymous. We have relied on a large number of techniques such as infrared reflectography or laser spectroscopy so as to identify the media, including those which have provided us with a better understanding of the pictorial process. Therefore, a comparative analysis with Sorolla’s artistic corpus can be performed.

The analytical (material, iconographic, formal, and stylistic) and comparative study made by Universitat de Lleida’s Centre d’Art d’Època Moderna (CAEM) team, of an oil on canvas painting preserved in a private collection in Spain, is an outstanding, exquisite painting by José de Ribera (Xàtiva 1591 – Naples 1652), probably rendered in Naples between 1616 and 1620, during the viceroyship of Don Pedro Téllez Girón y Guzmán, 3rd Duke of Osuna.

Exhibition catalogue of the Valencian artist Javier Margarit’s artwork, displayed in Lleida Cathedral to commemorate the Year of Faith. Monographic section, revised and expanded, dedicated to the painter Paolo da San Leocadio that the same author published in 2006, entitled: “Paolo da San Leocadio i els inicis de la pintura del Renaixement a Espanya” published by Alfons CEIC Gandia Vell.
This is the first monography devoted to the Italian painter Paolo da San Leocadio (1447-1520), a native of Reggio Emilia, arrived in Spain with the entourage of Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia, later Pope Alexander VI, and regarded as a great master and as a driving force of the Renaissance in Spain. The author of this book provides numerous documentaries quotes of the painter and his entire artistic production, documented and attributed, in a lavishly illustrated volume with a full bibliographic reference.

This is the transcript of the book of expenses incurred by the city of Valencia to prepare the official entry of King Martin the Humane, which is preserved in the municipality of Claveria Municipal Archives of Valencia, comprising dates May 1401 to September 1402. It appears a lot of unpublished documents of painters (Girardo de Jacobo, Anthoni Perez, Goçalbo Perez, Goçalbo Sarrià, Mestre Marçal e son jove, Antoni Exarch, Johan de la Porta, Domingo del Port, Domingo de Adzuara, Guillem Arnau, Johan Rull), carpenters (Bernat Benyto, Vicent Serra, Bernat Vives, Genís Clot, Berthomeu Sentalina), batifulles (Arnau Sanç) silversmiths (Bernat Sentalina, Francesch Jordi, Berthomeu Oliva).
There are also many references to pictorial material: “carmini, vermelló, adzur, blanquet, violeta, boliermini, almànguena, verdet, vert terrer, orpiment, indi bagadell, ocre, groch, blanch, ous per a les colors, ous per a temprar les colors, losa de molre colors, algepz, plomes de voltor per als pinzells, canyes per als pinzells de cerdes, coes de vays per fer pinzells, coes d’esquirols per pinzells prims, un manoll de plomes d’oca per als pinzells prims, olles e casoles xiques per a tenir les colors, oli de linós, fust de noguer, goma aràbiga, paper de Xàtiva, aygua cuita de Gerona”.

The book consists of three main interrelated. The first, study Spanish painting ranging from 1450-1525. The second and more importantly, dedicated to the figure of Paolo da San Leocadio (1447-1520), considered the driving force of the Renaissance in Spain. The third block, collects a valuable documentary corpus about the painting and the social and human density of the painter Paolo da San Leocadio in Levantine lands. A volume that is prolifically illustrated with all the known production of the Reggian painter.

The work focuses on the professional and biographical study of the most important painter of the fifteenth century Lleida, Jaume Ferrer, known as “II” to distinguish him from his probably predecessor, Jaume Ferrer I, active in the city since late fourteenth century to the first third of the fifteenth.
The book collects all the life and artistic career of the painter, with all references checked and abundant documentary images and details of all his documented and attributed works. The flagship painting group of Jaume Ferrer II is, without doubt, the altarpiece made in the mid-fourteenth century for the city Council of Lleida, known as Paeria, and currently held in the Plenary Hall of the Consistory.

A book which discusses the formation of the aesthetic artistic taste of Rodrigo Borgia during his first years at Valencia, as well as his role as patron of the arts and culture in Rome and the Italian Papal States in the second half of the fifteenth century. Through an extensive written literature, archival work and extensive visual corpus of about 500 images, the reader of this book can stroll through Rome and Renaissance Italy where Rodrigo Borgia lived, where artists such as Bramante, Antonio da Sangallo il Vecchio, Pinturicchio or Leonardo da Vinci worked in the service of Valencian Pope.
