The work has been studied jointly with Dr. Carmen Garrido (Madrid 1947-2020; emeritus director of the “Gabinete Técnico de El Museo del Prado”). To her memory, and with deep gratitude, we dedicate this writing.
It has been a long research, elaborated with great care, like Carmen Garrido enjoyed working. Extensive research that CAEM researchers will remember for a lifetime. A priceless opportunity to work with a real teacher, very wise, in the history of art in this country. As Carmen Garrido looked at the painting, no one in Spain has ever done it. She penetrated every pictorial work she examined in a unique way.
Thank you very much, dear Carmen, for teaching us so much, and for distilling among us, in a very generous way, the good and best of your perceptual and analytical wisdom.
